• GE donated 3,000 sets of Level 4 personal protective equipment and 220 boxes of nutrition milk worth more than VND600 million to Covid-19 frontline medical staffs
  • The essential items were granted to four field hospitals in Ho Chi Minh city, the Nghe An general friendship hospital, and the Ba Ria – Vung Tau authority

Hanoi, September 15th, 2021 – GE Vietnam recently donated 3,000 complete sets of Level 4 personal protective equipment (PPE) and more than 220 boxes of nutrition milk to support frontline doctors and healthcare workers in the fight against Covid-19. GE’s gifts were handed to the ICU for Covid-19 patients of Bach Mai Hospital, Vietduc University Hospital, Hue Central Hospital in HCMC (the field hospital No.16, No.13 and No.14 respectively); Binh Tan Center for emergency aid and treatment in HCMC; Nghe An Friendship General Hospital in Nghe An; and the Ba Ria – Vung Tau authority.

Worth more than VND600 million, the donation was raised by GE’s businesses and all employees across the country including GE offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, as well as GE Renewable Energy plant in Hai Phong, GE Dung Quat HRSG facility in Quang Ngai, and Phu My Reconditioning workshop in Ba Ria – Vung Tau. This is the GE Vietnam’s latest effort to contribute to the national action against the most challenging wave of COVID-19 so far. 

“Collaboration is critical to overcome this challenge. As a part of our global efforts and being Vietnam’s long term partner in progress, we hope we can do a small part to better protect to our frontline healthcare workers – to keep them safe the way they keep us safe, and contribute to the fight against COVID-19,” said Son Pham, President of GE Vietnam.

Volunteerism has been a vibrant part of GE’s culture, both for individual employees and the organization as a whole. GE Volunteers have been improving the lives of local communities through blood donation events as well as charity programs for orphans and the less-fortunate children in hospitals. 

In the most recent effort, GE Foundation, the company’s philanthropic organisation donated a $73,000 aid to Habitat for Humanity Vietnam to support a post-disaster recovery program in Quang Ngai province. Binh Thanh 2 and Binh Nguyen primary schools in Binh Son district, Quang Ngai Province, one of the worst victims of the historic floods and landslides in 2020, received the support to rebuild and renovate their facilities.
